The moral of this story:
The Republican party's stance on the 2nd Amendment is only incrementally different from the Democrats, differing only in how to go about restricting our rights. Some Republicans are so draconian on the subject as to make Feinstein herself blush.
Don't believe the hype. Research each candidate individually and support them or oppose them individually.

compassionate conservative (oh wait do they start wars and run up debt?)

And Democrats don't start wars, and run up debt???
John Kennedy, and Viet Nam?
How about John Kennedy and the Bay of Pigs invasion? Congress wasn't even REMOTELY CONTACTED regarding that particular invasion.

And Lyndon didn't run up a little debt? How about Carter? remember 21 % mortgage interest rates?

And speaking of starting a war, didn't about 90% of the Democrats in the Senate, vote to authorize the invasion of Iraq?

Gary Connor said:

But the President deliberately lied to them, Gary!!!

But the President deliberately lied to them, Gary!!!

Thought you were serious for a second...almost ripped you a new one!!

For all the sheeple who get their news from AljazeeraBC news....

The senate had the exact same intel that Bush did. Maybe they all lied to themselves! IMPEACH IMPEACH!

Get rid of all of them. Anyone committed strongly to their party - bah! They will say or do anything for party interests and the hell with the country.

Every criticism of the war from the left would be said by the right if a democrat got us into the current mess. None of them have values.

Ok, that was cynical.

The senate had the exact same intel that Bush did.

Bingo.

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."
- Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002

Quote:
"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security."
- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

Quote:
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program."
- President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

Quote:
"Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies."
- Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999

Quote:
"Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power."
- Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002

Quote:
"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."
- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

Meyer,
Cynical but true. All the partisans from both sides are merely sheeple. They don't even take the responsibility to form their own opinions, let alone vote in their own best interest.
The good news is the righty sheeple offset the lefty sheeple so that collectively they cancel out.
Unfortunately, that leaves the rest of us to pick between Stalin and Hitler every 4 years....
