.270 Remington CDL or Mountain Rifle

Hey guys. This is my first post. I am going to buy a new rifle before bear/ deer season this year. I was thinking either a 7mm-08 or a .270 and am pretty sure i am going to get a .270. I wanna use it on manly deer and this will be my first year to hunt bear. I was thinking either a Remington 700 CDL or there mountain rifle. What do you guys think?

Good rifle and a good caliber. Quality 150 grain bullets in a 270 penetrate deeply and work very well on big animals like elk too. I am getting older and lazier every day, I would take a mountain rifle so I had less weight to pack around. Recoil goes up quite a bit on light rifles though, if you are recoil sensitive a heavier rifle would be a better choice.

No way to go wrong

Pick up the gun you are going to buy and see if one feels better to you than the other. Not catalog but store stock.

All else equal I'd probably go Mtn Rifle in the .270 cartridge - I think the point of the .270 is lighter rifles and shorter barrels. Mainly deer and blackbear you couldn't do better.

I think the 270 is an excellent cartridge. however, if you re going to use 150 grain bullest go up to the 30-06, it's faster, and flatter shooting. THE ONLY reason people tought the 270 as being flatter shooting and faster is the becuase of the use of lighter bullets. having shot the 270 for quite a while it is in it's pinnacle of performance with130 grain bullets. I even use 130's in my 270WSM
