I've purchased a Savage Model 12 LRP in .260 Remington for some bench rest shooting out to 600 yards and long range coyote medicine. I've fired the round in a friends bolt action and love it. The Savage 12 LRP is supposed to be very accurate. Hopefully I'll have the Savage before Christmas. I'm in the process of getting a scope for it. I won't be able to shoot it for a bit due to the weather, but it will give me something to look forward to come spring. Maybe earlier depending on how cold and wet it stays this winter. More to come once I get the rifle set up and out to the range to sight it in. :D

You'll enjoy it. I got a 260 sort of by accident, in trying to find a rifle for the wife. My buddy had one to sell. Never had really heard much about it before that, but it turned out to be a great round. I 'borrowed' the rifle from the wife and the rest is history.

I'm taking my antelope stopper out again this weekend. If I do my part, 260 Rem will take care of the rest.

I really like mine a lot. I shoot targets and hunt up to deer sized game with it.

All my long range rifles wear the Burris XTRII, the .260 a 4-20. It is the most feature packed optic on the market at its price point and compares favorably with the $2000 to $3000 optics.

That is my next rifle . a friend of mine has it in 6.5 Creedmoor , most accurate rifle he has. Good luck with it. I reload so to starts with the rifle then mount & rings, scope, another cleaning rod, brass, dies , bullets & powder. Then the fun starts.

I picked up a Savage model 16 SS all weather off the used rack, not knowing anything about it....excellent find.

Congratulations OP! I have the 6.5x47 Lapua and it is a good cartridge. I hope you have a good time with your new rifle.
