26" barrel for Beretta A390?

Anyone know if I can find a 26" barrel for a A390 Beretta 12ga? I've got a Silver Mallard that I've used for most of my bird hunting the last ten years. I love this gun, won it on a raffle ticket at a Ducks Unlimited banquet back in '97 or so, but I'd love it even more if 2 more inches were cut off the the barrel. I've asked at some of the box stores like Sportsman's Warehouse and the salesmen have always told me no, there's nothing like that available.

Whad'ya think?

28" barrel is on it now and, as far as I know, that's all this gun comes in.

Thanks for the link krimmie. I was starting to get depressed thinking that Beretta didn't make less than a 28" barrel for the A390. This is what I've been looking for...don't know why I haven't seen it before.

I think that you should have contacted Beretta USA instead of some dumb clerk at a gun store.

They show this barrel being available for sale on their website for only $210:

Remember that the shorter you make the barrel, the louder the muzzle blast is going to be, and the more your hearing will suffer.

I do all of my target shooting with a 31 inch barrel gun, and all my hunting with a 29 inch barrel.

.

I would also check the price to get a gunsmith to knock 2 inches off the barrel and rethread it. Might be cheaper than a new barrel.

Thanks all...I guess I was looking for shorter barrels for this gun when I didn't have the power of the internet. It's the shotgun that I've shot the best with over the past ten years, and have been thinking for the past few years that I might shoot even better with a 26" barrel. Southeastern Oregon chukars have taught me well....

If you have shot it well, then why would you want too go and change the swing dynamics by shortening and lightening the barrel? Short barrels are faster to swing, but also faster to stop, resulting in more misses from behind

If it works, leave it alone.....

James:

The A390 is a classic shotgun, which is why Beretta still makes it, despite the newer models they have come out with since.

It is probably the best buy available today for someone that wants a good, reliable semiauto shotgun.

One dealer that I have bought guns from, Ray Tanner Sports, even has brand new Italian made AL390 available for sale, all for a fantastic price of only $529

Anyone shopping for a hunting shotgun could not find a better value than one of these:

Only drawback the original A390 has is that it has a steel receiver, and is thus heavier than newer guns on the market. And if one is doing a lot of hiking while upland game hunting, one might then notice the extra weight. The newer AL390 model used an aluminum receiver to reduce weight some. And the even newer 391 Urika, and current 391 Urika II, have dropped weight further.

I own two original A390 shotguns, and they have both been perfect when it comes to reliability.

LanceOregon...I don't mind the weight...I feel like it stabilizes me...and I agree...I've never had a problem with my 390. I'd have a hard time guessing how many rounds I've put through this gun even in dirty duck marshes and no malfunctions...5000-7000rds?
