.25 FIE Titan

Well, I was goofing at the gunshow today, and picked up a "Titan" by FIE in .25 ACP. $50.00 and a spare mag. Kinda cheapo, with its cast frame, but it was a good specimen for the money. I slimed the grips down with a dremel, so the grip is only 21mm wide, the slide only 18mm. It has a fixed barrel, ejector, hammer and cross bolt safety. The bore is mint. Any of you guys have any experience with this thing? Just did it for grins really, I hope the thing shoots and stays in one piece!

Well, I went to the range expecting the worst. The original mag was junk. I loaded the rounds into it and they all flew into my face, so switched to mag #2 and it worked great. So, I fired 150 rounds of JHP and FMJ without a single malfunction!! At 7 yards it kept all shots in about 3". Overall, I am suprised and pleased. I would like to find a pair of the black plastic grips I have seen on some, and a spare mag.

I had one of those Titan .25's in the early 70's. It was surprisingly accurate, I could consistently hit the round end of a one quart oil can at 35 yards with an offhand hold, it always surprised my shooting buddies. It also was 100% reliable with any brand of ammo I fed it. It did seem to keyhole a lot past ten feet or so. The only real complaint I had with it was that after a box or so of ammo, I had to remove the firing pin and straighten it, it would bend to the point that it would bind in the channel it rode in. The gun never impressed me with it's quality, (non-existent), but it sure was fun to fire after a range session with larger caliber pistols and revolvers, that little chunk of junk always made ppl smile! Memory fails me as to what I ever did with it. Have fun, Mikey

My brother has one of those that he keeps in his truck.

He's fired it quite a bit over the years.

The inside of the frame is being battered pretty badly by the slide, so that's something to watch for in the future.
