.25 acp 150 muzzle energy

Magsafe, like the Glaser Safety Slug, is a pre-fragmented bullet, that theoretically hits like buckshot. However, real world and ballistic gelatin evidence suggest it acts more like light birdshot. I heard it best described as the Glaser Septic Slug, as in it is more likely to kill due to infection, rather than more traumatic methods.

This type of ammunition was a fad, and has thankfully faded into obscurity.
 
that round suffers from extreme lack of penetration, though I imagine it would make a nasty looking flesh wound in the inch or two it went into a thigh or shoulder muscle.

That's worse than a single 00 buckshot pellet. at .071
Worse than a #4 buckshot pellet with a of SD .051

A 124 grain 9mm has a SD of .141 for reference.

Hopefully that can put it into some perspective.

On top of that the bullet expands and fragments!? It's going to be a VERY shallow wound.

The uber light for caliber bullets at high velocity are gimmicky, IMO. They're too light for caliber to reliably penetrate IMO. I would not trust them. Sorry, that velocity doesn't make up for the extremely under weight bullet. The 1700FPS is a good number to show for marketing purposes, but with a bullet that light, don't expect anything but extremely shallow wounds. Might be good for snakes or squirrels. That's about it.


IMO the most effective ammo for .25acp is a heavy FMJ or SWC as fast as you could safely get it. Penetration should come first with the little 'mouse calibers'
