Does anyone have experience with reloading 55 gr. BT bullets in
a 243 caliber? Has anyone used a chronograph to measure to the
ballistics and what were the results? Thanks for the info.

I tried them in my older model 70 but I couldn't get them to group. I tried 75gr with almost equally bad results. My old rifle prefers 100gr bullets. I suspect the twist rate is the reason.

Nosler's load data for their 55gr tickles the 4000 fps mark. In a 1-9" or 10" twist barrel you have jacket material spinning at 300,000 ++ rpm. Don't be surprised if you run into fouling problems.

I've never had much luck maintaining accuracy with photon torpedo loads out of the 243. My experience with loads above 3300-3400 is the first few down a clean barrel are good, then I need the brush and the Hoppes 9. 85 gr bullets at about 3200 seem to keep the ratio of shooting to cleaning within reason.

Yeah, check the twist rate. Some of the guys at varminter.com have spoken highly of these zoomie loads; I suspect they have slower twist rates.

Being a lazy sort, I've mostly just used the 70-grain Hornady spire-point for small stuff, and the 85-grain Sierra HPBT for smaller whitetails. Either bullet tends to be plumb ruinacious on coyotes and housecats.
