240 grain .44 Special lead flat-nose...any good use???

I have a .44 Magnum revolver with a 7.5" barrel. I was recently given a 100 rounds of .44 Special, 240 Grain, lead flat-nosed ammunition. They are rated at 800 FPS.

QUESTION:
What would be good use of these rounds? Small varment control? Home protection? Target practice? Any other ideas and why?

Thanks

Southern Shooter,

I recently really had to go to extremes to scrounge up a few of exactly what you were given for free.

If they're factory rounds, I'm interested! You wouldn't want to sell me a box of fifty, would you?

I load

A very similar slug to just a bit faster, 900-1000 fps,(say .44 +P+) for my lightweight Mtn Revolver, 4" and consider it a fine load for near anything.

Keep your brass. If you don't need/use it, somebody will be interested.

My experience is that .44 spl brass is a bit scarce (evne more so these days).
