22s in 22lr

What problems could I expect if I shoot 22 short in a rifle that says 22lr. It would be a bolt action so I am assuming feeding won't be a problem but are there accuracy or safety issues?

Likely won't feed from magazine. Would need to scrub the chamber after shooting to clean out residue that might prevent chambering longer rounds next time. Other than that no problem.

A bolt action with a tubular magazine will feed them all. Same with pumps and levers. Even semi autos with tube mags will feed shorts, longs, & Long Rifles, although cycling might be an issue with a semi auto. Manually operated repeaters that use box magazines (clips) usually will not feed the shorter rounds. They would have to be single loaded in the chamber.

If you shoot enough shorts in a long rifle chamber (and enough is going to be several tens of thousands of rounds, and likely a lot more) the chamber can get eroded at the point where the shorter case mouth is. Something to be aware of, but nothing to worry about.

The only thing to watch is the crud build up in the chamber. which can make chambering a Long Rifle round difficult, until you clean it.

I have a hard time feeding them through the mag in my Mark ii. But they will shoot. I was having a blast shooting 100 yards and just trying to compensate the drop.
It was something like 3 seconds from shot to impact at 100, but I found it entertaining.

With most detachable box magazine rifles for 22LR, you will be hand feeding (single shot) the rounds into the chamber. But it is not a problem shooting 22 Shorts other than what 44 Amp said.
