22s, holsters, and discretion

So here's my scenario. I have a Ruger 22/45, and can carry it legaly on my trapline. However the general public in my area are not used to seeing side arms. I would like to get a leather high ride holster and quality belt so I can carry the pistol strong side, but have it easily hidden from view in order to prevent having to explain that it is a legal carry and all kinds of other questions. I have a standard belt holster, but still protrudes slightly under my long jacket. Any idea who makes one?
Thanks for the help,

When I make a holster for a 22/45,,,

I just use the pattern for a 1911,,,
And adjust it for barrel length.

I would guess that a holster made for the 1911,,,
In the proper barrel length,,,
Would work for you.

First, a 1911 holster is not going to be a good fit for the Ruger. The grip is "1911" in shape but nothing else about the gun is.

Second, you might consider a Wilderness "Safepacker". You can wear it in plain sight and it doesn't look like something that says "GUN" to the casual observer.

The Wilderness Company has a web site, although I don't have a link at the moment and you can also get them from Dillon Precision.

Could try Ruger if it is a MKIII:

(they also have different barrel length holsters available) When I had a MKIII this is the holster that I ordered; in a different barrel length.

If it is a MKII, now you have a challenge. I ended up with a couple of Uncle Mikes, OWB and shoulder holster for mine. Both work. The shoulder rig might be what you want, if you really are concerned about the barrel end of the holster sticking out from under a jacket.

If you can share barrel length and MK# it might help us help you!

Let us know what you end up doing and how it works out.

Sorry fellas. Appreciate all the help so far. Its a 5.5 inch bull bbl mkIII. Tried shoulder holsters, just hate em. Lol. High ride would be good as a standard holtet is almost hidden enough.

I just use a cheap Uncle Mikes nylon belt holster. Its not perfect but it works with my 1911a1, Ruger Blackhawk, and 22/45.

You're gonna have a tough time finding a belt holster for a 5.5" 22/45 that won't stick a little bellow a coat. I tried and while the one I made for mine (a thumb break high ride) carried well I needed a long coat to cover it completely.

A couple things you may try:

On a field holster I like the bottom closed but that comes at a price, length. Look for a holster that in open bottomed and if it's the right length it will be an 1" or better shorter.

Next is to switch to a shoulder rig. They work great if it's cool enough for a jacket or coat, not so great in warm whether.

Keep in mind that 99.9% of people will never notice an inch or 2 of holster showing below your coat.

Maybe it's because I wet form them,,,

First, a 1911 holster is not going to be a good fit for the Ruger. The grip is "1911" in shape but nothing else about the gun is.

The only thing I change about the pattern for a Standard 1911,,,
Is the length to accommodate the Ruger target barrels.

Perhaps it is because I wet form the leather to the individual gun,,,
But my 22/45 drops right in holsters for the 1911.
