No real break in routine is needed. Just make sure everything is clean and properly lubed before your range sessions.
As far as cleaning frequency, I'm kinda retentive about my firearms. I clean them after every range session. Even if it's only 50 rounds. Of course the effort to get them clean varies. Sometimes a single patch and a wipe with an oily rag does just fine. Other times it can take a lot longer.
Your .22 mag should be a snap.
