.22LR Snub

I'm looking for something fun to complement the Beretta 21A I'll be picking up. I love the look of the 2.25" Ruger SP101 barrel however they're only made in .38 or .357. Suggestions for something similar, preferably made of steel, would be greatly appreciated. Has Ruger ever made something similar chambered in .22LR or can the 4" SP101 .22R have a blank 2.25" barrel bored for the .22LR installed?

Ruger has an LCR in 22LR

SW has a model 63 and some J frame 22s modeled after the 642s and hammerless.

Taurus has a few 22 snubbies.

Not exactly a match for the SP101 but it's a start.

S&W model 34 is one. I picked up one as a companion piece to a
Chiefs Special. The 34 has adjustable sights, and it's accurate
enough to make them worthwhile. Accurate little thing for a 2"
J frame.:)

I have a taurus 94 snubby double action adjustable sights 9 shots and I added CT laser grips to it. never had a prob. with it and it shoots very accurately. I bought both my wife and daughter a S&W 317 airlight 8 rounds very light weight. my wife uses hers as her CCW.

good luck on your search

^^^^ The OP implies that he/she doesn't like the looks of the current 4.2" .22LR SP101.

IIRC the SP101 was previously offered in .22LR with a 2-1/4" or 3" barrel, 6-shot cylinder, and a standard black-blade front sight. However, these versions didn't sell well and were discontinued ~12-15 years ago, and folks who have them tend to hang on to them forever; they don't come up for sale very often. It's one of those guns in the BUY IT NOW! category when you find one at a show. :)

I would look for a S&W Model 34. Somewhat hard to find anymore, but they are out there.
The S&W Model 63 is made in 3". It's a nice revolver. I want one of these.
Colt Diamondback 2.5" if you have very deep pockets and find one for sale.
Ruger LCR which is double action only. Fun revolver, but it takes practice to shoot it half way decently.
S&W makes the airweight 22 snubbies. I initially wanted one of these, but not really much anymore. I would rather have the steel framed M63.

There are 4 currently available, Ruger LCR-22, Charter Arms Pathfinder, Taurus 94 and Smith & Wesson 317. All are available with 2" barrels. I have all 4, with the exception, my S&W 317 has a 3" barrel. The Ruger LCR 22 is Double Action Only, and is only available that way. I would recommend you stay away from the Taurus. I have major issues with mine, and the overall quality just isnt very good. The other 3 are all excellent. The Pathfinder is a good value. Mine didnt shoot to point of aim, and has fixed sights. It went back to Charter for repair. They paid shipping both ways, had it a month, and now its perfect. My Ruger shoots to point of aim at 10 yards, and is a nice little revolver. The S&W is much more expensive than the Ruger, or Charter, but is all aluminum, and very high quality, but you pay for that. If you are looking for a reasonably priced option, then the Ruger or Charter. If money isnt an issue, then the S&W would be my choice.
