22lr scope selection

It seems to me that a .22 would not require high magnification considering the reasonable shooting ranges so I have a 3x9 which should be more than necessary; and it is for distance. However, what about short ranges?

I often go to an indoor range that is 50'. I happened to take my 10/22 with the aforementioned scope and could not get focus at that short distance.

Here's the question: what would be an appropriate scope, dot, hologram, ... to cover the largest range spectrum for this weapon?

You've gotten helpful answers so I don't mind asking this now, have you fully enjoyed the challenge of iron sights? Way more satisfying unless you're going for tightest group.

Thanks for the info and that's a good question. I have weapons on which I use iron sights. This particular gun is a pistol grip stock, bull barrel, 2.5lb trigger, etc.

I agree iron sights are fun and challenging. I'm just going a different direction on this gun.

When my father was in his '80s he couldn't see sights or crosshairs very well, so I put a MatchDot on an S&W 647. It's a k-frame .17 HMR.

Burris

I bought a 4.5-14x Fulfield II from Burris and as a free bonus, it was packaged with a 3-9x Rimfire Scope. All I can say is wow!

Best scope I've ever had on a 22lr rifle.

I have a 2-7 power 28mm Leupold rimfire specific scope on one of my .22s and it focuses quite well at normal rimfire ranges, not to mention that it is parallax corrected for 60 yards instead of the centerfire scope's typical 150 yard parallax free distance.
I find myself using it mostly on the 2X setting unless I'm shooting at targets off of a bench.

My aging eyes can't focus on iron sights anymore.

I put a Leupold VX-1 4x28 on my son's CZ. The parallax adjustment for 60 yards makes it a great scope for short-distance targets. It is a bit pricey, but it's one hell of a scope. I started with a $40 BSA rimfire scope, but I couldn't even adjust it to get in on paper. You get what you pay for. Just my opinion.

Mueller 4-14x40 APV, adjustable objective, super clear edge to edge, I paid $129, sets on my Ruger 10/22 good at 50 or 100 yards.

I recently purchased a Bushnell Elite 3200 4-12x40 with an adjustable objective. This is an outstanding scope with a BulletProof Lifetime warranty. It focuses down to 7 yds and is super clear. They are selling them for a tad over $200 which is a sale price of over $100 in savings. I put it on a 22mag and I'm completely satisfied with it.

I got the Leupold Rimfire (2-7). Works great, currently on a 5.56 carbine (Leupold says that's fine).

Mostly 50 yards as that's convenient . Can go to 100 pretty well (old eye and could use 9 power out there but its good enough)

I love nikon prostaff scopes. I have one on every one of my hunting rifles. I believe they make a fixed 4x specifically for 22lr and they should be fairly cheap
