226 9mm mags for .40/.357

With my new found love for the 226 and my old desire for the most oomph I can get, I was thinking about a 226 .40/.357 to complement my 229 .40. I've heard that 9mm regular capacity mags will hold 12-14 rounds (depending on who is telling the story) of .40/.357. Any truth to this? Any cautionary tales?

You can use P226 15 round mags in the .40/.357Sig P226 and P229 and they hold about 11 rounds, maybe 12 if you stuff it but I couldn't get 12 in there. 12-13 will fit in a 17 round 9mm mag. You could change the follower to a .40/.357Sig one but I've found you don't need to. They work fine, too.

Have used 17rd mecgar mags to get 12 rounds, 13 is kind of tight but can be done.I have used them in a 229 and did not have any failures in approx 250rds. hope this helps. G.R.
