.223 magazine?

First, I'd like to start off by saying that I'm a new rifle owner. Aside from the M-16 A2 through A4 in the army, I haven't had much contact with any type of rifle. That said, I recently purchased a Savage Axis .223 and it only came with a 4 round magazine. My question is this, I'm looking for extra magazines that could hold more. As my state doesn't have any maximum magazine size, I was wanting to get maybe a 10 round magazine. Is it possible to use this rifle with say an AR .223 or similar rifle?

Thanks.

Hey, thanks for the link, this guy looks like he is working on what I'm wanting in the 15 round capacity. Just what I was looking for. Appreciate it.

These are the questions you ask BEFORE you purchase the gun. I doubt if anything is available for the Axis. Mossberg does make a bolt rifle that takes AR magazines as does one of Remington's pump action guns. Ruger makes a 308 bolt rifle that takes 10 round magazines and Tikka offers larger magazzines for their T-3 rifle.

It's not so much a neccessity as a preference. I tend to fire a lot while at the range. I just was curious. In any case there's a guy in the above link that was given to me and the guys has had some success with the .308 Savage. He's working on the .223.

EDIT: Also a ten round magazine wouldn't get in the way overly much, it wouldn't even touch the ground in a prone position. In any case. I just like to fire down range alot and stopping to reload every 8 shots (I have two magazines) is fine, I'd just prefer not to. I admit it was an oversight when purchasing it.
