223 in an ar15 reloading questions

I have been handloading for my revolver for a little over a year now, and will shortly start hand loading for my ar and I had some questions my manual didn't answer for me
Are small rifle primers all right or do I need to use mil spec?
And do the bullets need to have a cannelure? To prevent set back
Any thing else that that I need to know?
I will be using cfe223
 
You don't need mil-spec primers.
You don't need to roll crimp, so canneleurs are irrelevant.
CFE 223 works pretty well in my experience.
 
223 5.56 primers.

I do not use Remington 6 1/2 as the cups are thin and Remington has said to use the 7 1/2 primer for the 5.56 , 223.. Magnum primers have thicker cups also. The CCI 400 shows pressure , by flowing into the firing pin hole, starting with midrange loads for me. This can change between different lots.

Thanks for posting that link...It takes a while to read, but some very good info

I think any one loading for a gas gun would benefit greatly from that article...very good stuff!!! I have a batch of once fired LC MATCH 7.62 brass I`ve been saving for a rainy day; I think I`ll head to the garage...

I have some of those GI cases with the cannelure...I always wondered if they would be weaker at that point...As I have reloaded batches until I got the stretch mark or bulge at the web...I guess those cases can go to the scrap yard.
