.223 ammo opinions

These questions have probably been asked before, but I haven't found all the answers doing a search.


How does Winchester Q3131A, 55gr PMC, and 55gr UMC compare?

I guess I'm looking for the best cheap ammo.

What does the "Q313A" stand for? Is it all made in Isreal?

I've got a little of each of these and some others too. I found good deals on all of them. I haven't really had the oppurtunity to try them all out yet to compare, but also would like to stock up some more of one or the other while I still have an opportunity.
 
I've shot almost every brand there is, but for the Wolf; posts here indicate that it can be "dirty". I've used a few thousand gun-show reloads, for that matter.

It all seems to shoot about the same. PMC has had a good reputation, and I've gotten as good a groups with it through a Mini 14 as with any other ammo. So far, in my Ruger 77, there's no notable difference in accuracy among brands.

Buy bulk for "just shooting" of whatever is cheapest among the "regular" brands. One or two cents per round shouldn't be enough money to notice, really. Reload for accuracy for varmint hunting...

If you are asking this in regards to accuracy, you should test it in your gun as results can very for each gun. Otherwise just buy the cheapest.
