Cheap and dirty but still good

Academy has monarch steel for $4.29, reg $5 seen it as low as $3.99

If you clean down to the firing pin it's great to shoot. Haven't noticed any damage with the steel casing, only fired around 5-600 rounds through it.

Anyone else have any experience with this ammo? Would like to know what anyone with more rounds down range than myself has to say about it. Their brass is $9.99 so a pretty steep increase if you don't re use the brass.

I've shot alot of the 9mm, haven't shot any of the 223 i've been shooting the tulammo stuff from walmart.

I ran 100 rounds of the 7.62mm through my Socom16... had 3 FTF's. Cycling was a bit... brisk, and it blew a 8" flame straight up out of my muzzle brake  .

Accuracy wasn't all that great and I don't shoot steel-cased ammo any longer... It's not worth it.

So 8" flame goes in the pro or the con column? Lol

I hate monarchs steel pistol ammo. Their brass is ok. I just can't justify going from 4-5/20 to 10/20 to just get brass. I don't reload. A guy at the range was using tul and hadn't had any problems. The range I go to sucks (2 second rule) so haven't been able to see how it handles on rapid fire.

I usualy try to find PMC Bronze in 223, its cheap...er and i get good accuracy out of my AR from it and....its reloadable, or sellable. I hate using steel as it is hard on extactors and such, usualy its cheap and diry ammo. Recently they changed their 223 to PMC X-TAC i think but its the same stuff just diff name. I get it off of CheaperthanDIRT in mass quantity when i need a new case cause convenitenly i run of brass to safley realod all at once cause my AR gets a workout. I keep a new case of all the calibers on the shelf for the zombies tho...just in case.

For $5.98 per box, I would rather shoot all brass American Eagale (Federal) or PMC. Monarch brass is ok but I only shoot brass.

At one time, Monarch steel was Barnaul. Not sure what it is now.

PMC Bronze is 223, and not the same as PMC X-TAC, which is more like the NATO loads, either M855 or M193.

Ram, yep good old Wally Word has the American Eagle 55 gr fmj for that price and a few places online.

I'll have to check it out. Walmart also has the best 9mm price ive found federal 100 rnds for 19.xx

I remember before the Obama/Ammo scare you could pick up 100 rounds of WWB .40 for $23 bucks. Ahh about as depressing as thinking back on gas prices, in not thirty yet but I can remember paying less than a buck/gal

In the intervening years (and actually going a few years before that), commodity prices have gone through the roof. Just about every kind of ammo you care to name is about 50% more expensive than it was about 8 years ago, and that's assuming you find a decent price.
