I recently had a bad experience with a S&W 317 .22 cal revolver.
Something dawned on me,the reason I got it was because I figured that as long as I'm gonna get a .22 snubby I might as well get the best..................well I got a lemon!

I would like TFL'ers to share their experiences with different makes of .22 snubby's .........what's your favorite?.........what has let you down etc. etc.

I have a SW317LS. The Lady Smith model. I've put untold brick after brick through it. Easily 250 rounds today even. Not a problem one. And I am thoroughly pleased with it.

What was your problem? I once had a very "pre-agreement" SW63 (no dash) that had some problems, so I know that Smith and Wesson problems are not non-existant. (Hell. My worst pistol problems have been with 9mm Gocks. :o )

What was the problem? Dirty cylinders making extraction difficlult ( not necessarily a mechanical problem IMO )? Too small of cylinders making extraction difficult ( my SW63 problem BTW )? Rounds under the star ( not really a mechanical problem IMO )?

Right out of the box a new revolver should not require that you have a sledge hammer to eject spent shells from the gun.
I tried several different types of ammo with no better results.
Don't know what else to say ..........so it is being sent back.

I had a very "pre-agreement" SW63 (no dash) that experienced the same problems. Simply reaming the chambers ought to fix it. I've heard of similar problems with other SW .22s, but aside from my SW63, this is the most recent problem that I've heard of. Most tight chamber problems that I've heard of have been "older" blue steel models. Should be an easy fix. Good luck!

I once briefly owned a Terva (Argentina) .22lr revolver that was only capable of firing one out of nine cylinders, and it was brand new! That sucker was headed back to Century in short order.:barf:

Favorite .22 LR snubbie is-

Smith & Wesson model 34 "Kit Gun" with the 2" barrel
and target sight's.:D
