.22 S Rifles-What are my options?

I know of the Marlin 15 YN, which seems a little small, and I just heard of the Savage Mark 1-g which is a full sized .22 that shoots .22 short ammunition(btw...anyone have experience with this gun?!?)Are there any other non-semiauto .22 rifles out there (preferably bolt action, single shot is good too...) that shoot .22 short ammo besides these? Thanks for any opinions and/or help on this.

Almost all of the Marlin .22LR bolt action rifles will shoot 22 shorts. However, in most cases you will not be able to use the magazines. Single shot is usually required.

Why do you want to shoot shorts?

Also, take a look at .22longs. They are almost the same length as long rifles and feed from a magazine, but usually are loaded light and quiet like shorts.

Marlin 81TS is a tube fed bolt action with full size stock. It funtions smoothly from magazine with shorts, longs and long rifle ammunition. IIRC mag holds 20 or so shorts. My old winchester 69A would feed all ammo from the box mag, current production winchester (USRA) model 52 has similar mag, might work. BTW, the new production 52s are quite nice rifles.

Winchester use to make a model 67 single shot bolt gun that takes shorts, longs, and long rifles. They're pretty basic but servicable rifles. I see them around for $50 to $100.

I want to shoot .22 shorts (CB's preferably) because that way my neighbors won't be irritated---its not that I live in a congested area by any means, I just don't want them to call the cops or anything on me...because a lot of old people live near me. Anyway, I would shoot .22 longs, but they will still be supersonic, and if they aren't they will be a lot louder than .22 cb shorts Thanks for the advice so far, keep it comin!

CZ makes a bolt action 22 rifle that has adult proportions. It's pretty neat because it has a micro Mauser action.

I have a Remington 552 Speedmaster that cycles .22 LR, Long, and shorts. Unfortunately, CBs don't cycle in it.

I just skimmed this, so I'm not sure that you put a price on this piece, but Browning makes a tubular fed lever action (BL-22) ... mine is quite accurate. The other option for sub-sonic is Aguila's SSS which are full length, they have .22s brass under a LOOOOONG 60 grain bullet that ends up being the form factor of a .22lR and also is able to reliably cycle my 10-22 and Ruger .22/45 ... just the facts.
