.22 Rifle scopes

I'm planning on putting a 4x scope on a new Marlin 60 I'm buying. A friend has told me a .22 scope is different from a scope for a center fire rifle. I'm interested in something with a larger (32mm) objective lens for the light gathering capability. The scope I've looked at is a Tasco Pronghorn. Does it matter whether a scope is for center fire or rim fire?

Thanks in advance.

Bwana, it doesn't matter. IMHO, any 1" tube scope is better than any 15mm tube (.22) scope. Tasco scopes, while not heirlooms, are good performers for the money. Enjoy.

PS There may be some issues with parallax at VERY close ranges, but I think you can ignore that for your rig.
