.22 rifle issue

I have a Savage Mark II, and have never had this issue until today. I shot about 100 rounds today, and towards the end of the day, 2 spent shells didn't extract. In fact, they got stuck in the barrel. I was able to get them out fairly easily using a screw driver, but I can't figure out what would cause that. I fired about 15 rounds after the 2 got stuck, and it seemed fine. Ammo maybe? I was using what i always use: CCI Mini Mags. Any ideas? Thanks.

check the extractor to make sure of a few things.

1st it isnt missing the claw off the end of the extractor
2nd it is still able to move freely.

i have had both problems with the mark 2 bxp i used to shoot alot.

22 LR ammo can be pretty messy, leaving grit and unburned powder behind. Could be that you have some of that under the extractor, which is keeping it from hooking well over the rim of the fired case. Understand that I am assuming that's the kind of extractor your rifle has. If I'm right, a good scrubbing with a toothbrush and some Hoppe's (or the equivalent) might fix the problem. If the extractor is still hooking and pulling some of the cases, it probably isn't broken.
