.22 magnum DA revolver choices

Go on Gunbroker and look at H&R 676s/686s and Hi-Standard Double Nines, which all come in convertible formats and are all DA as well. I had (just sold) a 7.5" 676 and it was a total tackdriver with the magnums.
The Double Nine is cool, looking like a Colt SAA but with the nine rounds and all, but the 676 outshot it all the way. I highly recommend the H&R as it's the more robust of the two.
I'm presently awaiting payment for mine from some guy who seems to be taking his time. If he falls through, I'll sell you a killer gun for $200.

The Ruger Single Six is always a good choice. Also there are the Colt New Frontier and Peacemakers with two cylinders that are available.
In double action, I like the Smith stuff, but it is pricey. The Colt Trooper Mark III is an excellent 22 Mag revolver. Probably kind of pricey since the mag version are uncommon and becoming collector items.
I have no experience with either the Taurus or Charter Arms, so I will not suggest either.

For what purpose, CC, as a ranch sidearm, plinking, etc...?
Yup, I'm watching for one too. The SA are good, but for a plinking and shooting rogue beer cans, loading and unloading become a pain in the neck.
Watch out for the older guns shooting WRF ammo, I don't think you can use WMR with them as it's a tad longer. You can shoot WRF in a gun for WMR but not vice versa. There's WRF ammo out there but not near as much of the more modern WMR.
Taurus mod 941 is DA and fairly modern and what I'm looking for price wise. I'm not going to over pay for one but think I'll find one sooner or later. I like the 22 mag and have been putting the DA off for to long.

I've read a few good things about Charter's .22s. I've also dealt with their customer service, and am confident that if you get a lemon they'll set it straight in two weeks' time. I'm also pretty confident you won't get a lemon at all.
Taurus seems to have their fair share of bad guns, and the fact that their customer service is based here in Miami is enough to drive me away.

Here's another option from H&R, the model 603,604.
Double action, swing cylinder, 6 shooter, heavy barrel.
The same revolver, except one has round barrel, the other has flat sided barrel.
No longer made, but they are found quite often on the 2 main auction sites.
Actually one of them has at least 2 very nice examples listed right now.
Here is a pic of my model 604.
Bought it unfired in box for the excellent price of $ 165 plus shipping.
Got lucky on this one, and no one else bid.
Still have not fired it, so can't speak for how it shoots.

No first hand knowledge of the 941 other than a few friends. Taurus sells thousands of guns and the only time you hear of them is when someones crying about their POS gun. I don't think they would still be in business if they were all bad.

That's one fine looking revolver. I seen a used one at a gunshow awhile back and they wanted $275 for it. I offered $225 thinking we could meet in the middle somewhere, but he wouldn't move off the price, so I let him keep it.

I actually paid $ 195 for the model 604 + $ 15 shipping.
So I have a little more in it than I thought, but still an excellent price IMO. Bought it in Dec. 2007
Time flies, seems like only last year!

I always wanted a High Standard Sentinel in .22 mag, but it just never happened. In fact, I'm not so sure I've ever seen or handled one in the flesh.
No idea on perfromance, etc, but as a kid, that sleek, sculpted Phython look had me hooked!!!!!

I get the distinct impression that $601 is out of the OP's price range. Furthermore, IMHO the M351PD is more of a short-range (<7yds) self-defense piece; the short barrel and light weight will make it difficult to attain a high degree of accuracy when plinking or shooting at a distant varmint.
This could be solved by buying an older model with a longer barrel, but vintage rimfire S&Ws have steeply increased in value over the last 3-4 years. Around 2005ish, you could buy a "shooter grade" .22LR or .22Mag Smith for $250; no more!
The S&W equivalent of the Taurus 941, a gun the OP says he/she likes, is the Model 51. These guns are built on the compact J frame but have a longer barrel that's better suited for the OP's mission. However, a quick look at GB reveals that nice M51s are selling- not just listing, selling- in the $500-$700 range. Case in point: The following gun had bids up to $555 when I wrote this post almost 2 days before the auction ended:

I Have a High Standard Sentinel Mk IV in .22 Magnum WMR.
It is very accurate and fun to shoot. Smooth trigger in SA or DA.
As other have stated, extraction can be a PITA, but changing ammo def. helps, For us, the CCI 40 grain JHP works the best.
The noise and muzzle flash can be disconcerting, but the heavy (relative) frame keeps it rock steady.
Can post pics if interested in seeing it.

If we wait long enough maybe Ruger will expand the LCR family to include a 7 or 8 shot DA revolver in .22 Magnum. That would make a handy little trail gun or a CC gun for somebody recoil shy.
Even if recoil is not an issue, 8 shots with fast follow-ups is a good thing in itself. The little magnums penetrate well with a solid bullet and expand well with the new short-barrel hollow points.
In a world where crime often comes with multiple attackers, 5 shots begins to seem a little sparse. 8 sounds better.

I have quite a few older Charter arms-one in .22lr, but no magnum.
