.22 Conversion Units

Do these work?

Ceiner vs. Advantage Arms?

I 'm considering one for either the Glock 19 or Kimber (.45).

I'm interested in your thoughts and experience.

Thanks,

Frank

I have the Ceiner Platinum Cup for my Springfield. It has perfect reliability and practical accuracy, though not as accurate as a Ruger or Browning .22. I have heard, not experienced, that the Advantage unit is superior to the Ceiner for use on a Glock.

A search of the archives should yield more posts...

I don't have one, but I have never heard a single bad comment about the .22 conversion made by Marvel Products. They cost more, but the accuracy claims are higher than anyone else's. They don't make a conversion for the Glock, but their 1911 kit will fit your Kimber. The link is

Let us know what you decide and how it works out.

I bought the Ceiner for my Colt Officer's model. I got the platnum cup version in the finish to match my stainless frame. I got it home and couldn't put it on the frame. It turns out that the barrel to slide fit was so tight that it wouldn't allow the slide to be pulled back. So, I sent it back. It took a couple weeks to get it back. Mine is not all that reliable. I would guess that it jams 10 times out of every 100 rounds fired. Accuracy is good. I was told when I bought it that even though it was made for the Officer's Model, I could use it with a full size frame as long as I had the full sized mag; giving you, I guess, a Commander. I bought the extra mag. but I haven't tried it yet. I am pretty sure that it said in the instructions that this thing needs to be kept really clean to maintain function. I normally fire 500 rounds between cleaning on my .22s. I think if I was going to do it again, I would try the Marvel. I debated at the time, getting a conversion for my Glock 17 instead of the 1911 model since I never shoot my Glock and I thought it might make it worth owning, but the dealer told me that the 1911 model was much more reliable. That wouldn't be saying much for the Glock version. I chose the 1911 model since my Officer's model is my CCW gun and I felt the practice time would be better spent with it. I would say it is a worthwhile purchase, especially with the added practice you get clearing jams.
