.22 conversion for a Bushie AR-15

Greetings All, I am considering a .22 conversion for my AR-15. Has anone used one of these and how did you like it??
Is it accurate? does it cause any wear problems for the barrel ??

Thanks

Ciener:

I've had the Ceiner conversion in the past but sold it. I've got a 10/22 that I like. As for the Ceiner, no problems whatsoever. Didn't like some ammo, but was 100% reliable with the ones it liked. I had a 30 round magazine that fed and functioned flawlessly. If you get the kit, you won't be sorry. Cheap practice and very accurate. As for wear, at the velocities you get from rimfire, no way. I was worried about a few things when I bought it. One was that the gas-port would get gummed up, no problems with that. The second thing was that the magazines would be difficult to load. Somewhat true of the 30 rounders. That was one of the reasons I switched to the Ruger. I've got a magazine loader for the Ruger that works just fine for me.

Accuracy?

With what barrel? There are two issues that keep it from being truely accurate, one being the jump to the rifling and two being the faster twist. 1:12 A1 barrels are not too bad but 1:7"?

Also, rimfire is .2225" where the bore is .2245". I'm pretty sure it slugs up at rimfire is a hollow base of sorts but there is a good portion of the bullet that is .2225" in diameter.

I make my own low power loads with cast bullets (4.5 gr of Unique and a 55 gr cast bullet, any primer) that's fairly accurate and downright deadly on squirrel. Its single shot only so the Ciener has advantage.

there are several companies making dedicated 22lr uppers
1/16 true 22lr barrels with a blowback receiver

Victor arms
DPMS
Olympic
Kurts custom
accuracy speaks
Leitner wise

i have been waiting on LW to ship product for 2 years now

I own a Ceiner kit and have used it for the past couple of years. I would just be repeating the same stuff Badger Arms already said so I'll just encourage ya: Buy it! Buy it! Buy it!

Thanks for the replies.
My Main reason for getting a conversion is so that I can shoot my AR indoors at my club in the winter, we dont allow ammo over 1300 FPS and only .22 rimfire ammo is allowed in a rifle.
The twist on my barrel is 1:9 what type of .22 ammo should I consider for best accuracy?

Thanks

Unless they've changed their policy in the last 6 months, Oly Arms doesn't make dedicated 22 uppers anymore. They made only a few and decided it wasn't worth the effort.

They were suppose to make one for me, but then the big fire :( came along and destroyed the records. To their credit, they did refund me when I sent in proof of payment. However, I'd rather have a dedicated upper.
