.22 Caliber Shotgun Questions

I'm looking at the Savage MK I-GSB smooth bore .22 as a possible antidote for barn pigeons. Anybody have experience with this gun? Comments?

Also, can anyone recommend an on-line source that stocks .22 caliber shot shells?

Should be adequate, but Marlin has a smoothbore in .22 mag that may be more effective. My experience is that you must be very close.

Can you further specify "very close?" Inside 10 yards? Inside 5 yards? And do you have a model number for the Marlin? Thanks!

I've heard that the .22 Mag Marlin is pretty good up to 15-20 yards on small pests. I've looked at those several times, looks like a handy gun to have around at times. I'd use it on the crows that are all around me!

Since the .22 Mag shotshell is loaded with No. 11 shot, I would think 25 feet would be about maximum. I've used the .22 LR versions on rats, mice, and chipmunks at 15 feet.
