I have a Remington Nylon 76. When I was taking it apart to clean it, a small metal rod fell off but I didn't see where it came from. I checked the gun an didn't see a spot where it appeared to be missing. I attached a picture of the piece. If anyone can give me any insight on where this piece belongs that would be much appreciated.

I gave my uncle a 76 years ago and he took it apart. It took him a few days to get it back together and that was after my father looked at it and a gunsmith looked at it. The factory service manual has directions and poor drawings in it, but it helped my uncle.
