22-250 vs 308

Is a 22-250 an accurate cartridge? I am thinking of downsizing from 308 to 22-250. How accurate is it at 100 yards. Can I shoot under 1/2" groups with this cartridge? What powders and what bullets will work best? Shot my 308 today 8 five shot groups, worst was 7/8 best was just over 3/8.

22-250 accuracy will depend on the rifle more than the cartridge.
The cartridge itself is routinely capable of sub-dime groups.

I liked my last 22-250 quite a bit but it just didn't fill a void so I traded it off. Still kept the ammo and reloading stuff for it just incase I get an itch for another one.

I guess I use .223 for most of the stuff I used it for or step up to a 7BR or 7-08.

33-350 is very versatile.

With a 1:14 twist shooting lighter bullets the 22-250 should do very well at 100 yards.

With a 1:8 twist shooting 75 to 80gr bullets a 22-250 will do very well at 500 yards, as long as the shooter can read the wind to keep them in the X ring.

I will be odd one out here. I have a 22-250 and after finding a load for it, sub MOA is a cake walk for it. Very accurate cartridge. That being said- I will also say-What a wasted caliber IMHO. I would take my 223 over that thing anyday.
Cheaper to load for, ability to shoot a much heavier bullet, every bit if not more accurate, easier on the brass at not that much loss in speed, much better barrel life. I will not ever sell mine , but it is a closet rifle most it's life.

A 22-250 is an option less caliber in practical terms. If I went smaller than my 308 for recoil reasons, Id go with the tried and proven 243 or 6MM. Both are much more versatile in comparison to the 22-250. Just sayin'..... God Bless

I shoot a .22-250 ground hog banger, and I'm VERY happy with it.
Can't say I'm happy about the cost of cartridges, a prime example of saving a bunch by reloading...

LOLBELL,

33-350 is one of the more common "TWC" cartridges.

You know "Typo Wild Cat"

Hope that clears things up.
