22/22mag revolvers or 22 mag semi auto pistols

i am interested in the handgun brands and models available in these calibers. for revolvers i am only interested in 22/22mag combos. i know of a few single action revolvers in 22/22mag combos but what are the double action revolver combo choices. also what brand/models of 22 mag semi auto pistols are available. i know kel tec is supposed to bring one out but has anyone actually seen one? any owners? any info?
 
Charter Arms is making the Pathfinder double action with interchangeable cylinders and Taurus has said they are introducing a interchangeable double action as well. Taurus is always iffy as to whether they will actually bring to market what they announce but the Charter Arms is already available.

To my knowledge the Kel-Tec is the only semi-auto at the moment but there was an earlier version from AMT that can be found used.

.22mag ammo isn't exactly cheap so I'm happy shooting it s-l-o-w-l-y in my Single-Six. :D
 
I love the 22Mag

I think the 22mag is the most under-appreciated around. My wife and I have his and hers S&W351PDs and love them. I'm looking for more revolvers in this caliber now.

From my research, the following revolvers are currently available.

Charter Arms Pathfinder
Ruger Single Six
Taurus 941

There are a bunch of discontinued revolvers that include

S&W 48
S&W 648
Colt Tropper
Colt Frontier Scout
NAA PUG

I'm sure there are more, and I haven't even touched on long guns, there's only so much time in a day...

Keep us up to date on what you find. I'd love to hear about your experiences with them. And if there are any available for sale in MA, that would be OK too.
 
I've been looking for a 22wmr double action revolver for some time now. They seem to be scarce, outside of Taurus, which I don't trust. In addition, they're WAY too expensive. I'll probably wait another year or so until the PMR-30 becomes sanely priced and pick one of those up. ;)
 
There are plenty of H&R revolvers if you look for them.
The double action is a little "stiff", but single action the triggers are sweet.
Plus the longer the barrel, the more velocity you can eek out of either .22LR, or .22WM.
This is my 676 with a 12" barrel. Although it looks cumbersome, it is actually very light, and accurate, and well balanced.

22 Magnum

i like 22 Magnums.I once owned a Taurus DA and it was a piece of junk-terrible trigger that couldn't be improved.
I also have an original AMT Automag II made in Irwindale ,CA.
It's fun to shoot but only seems to like Winchester HP's and SP's.They actually run better than the FMJ's.
It jams on a routine basis,but since it's not for SD/HD who cares?
Loudest thing you ever heard.Great sights and the trigger isn't half bad.
I just picked up a nice S&W Model 51 made in around 1972-3,towards the end of production.It's the magnum companion to the Model 34/Model 63 22 LR kit guns.
Fun to shoot and just a nice revolver to look at.
I have a 63 that's a beaut also.The pinned barrel era was S&W's finest hour.
They did make some clunker 66's but no one's perfect.:rolleyes:
 
I love my Kel-Tec PMR-30. I also have a 6" AMT Auto Mag, and a bunch of Ruger single six combos. I happen to be a big fan of 22 Mag. I don't know what kind of shooting you prefer. I would push you toward the Single Six because it is fun, reliable,accurate, and useful. H&R examples of DA are good too. S&Ws are great (I have one in 22 mag only) as a rule you may have to drop quite a few coins to get one more if you want a combo. In any case you have to find what you like. In any case you are looking at a vary good caliber.
 
My NAA Pug .22 mag revolver is an essential part of my CCW plan. When no other weapon will fit the bill, it will. Hornady just came out will .22 mag Critical Defense Rounds. Can't wait to pick some up.
 
Ruger

I've got my Dad's convertible Single-6 and keep the .22 Mag cylinder in it. I never really had anything good to say about .22WMR, but when Dad's pistol came my way after his passing, I put the mag cylinder in as a novelty, since I had all the .22 lr pistols I needed in a MkII and a Bearcat.

I was immediately impressed. The mag seemed to hit and kill appreciably harder than any .22 lr round out of a hand gun. This is on 'dillo's and coyote, rat's, etc. Dad's pistol has a tad longer bbl than I normally carry, and I shoot it better resultantly too.
My std load is Win JHP, occassionally FMJ. The hi-vel light bullet stuff and other mfg's std bullet weight ammo will not get to point of aim, even w/ adjustable sights, but the Wins will. And the FMJ and the JHP (in the Wins) shoot to POA in the revolver.

The .22 mag ammo has gotten expensive, and I do not shoot it as much as I used to, but its still a great round./combo
