.22 1911 Conversion Kit Question

Did Wilson ever make a Commander's sized .22 conversion kit for the 1911?

I am interested in getting a .22 conversion kit simply to save money on ammo and to help introduce new shooters to shooting. Wilson certainly has the name. I found a Wilson .22 conversion kit for sale with 3 10-rd mags for $199. It seems like a good price (Wilson's MSRP is $260 for the kit and 1 mag, and $42 for each additional mag). But the advertisement mentions the word 'Commander' quite afew times, which worries me as I only have a full size 1911.

As far as I know, Wilson doesn't make ANYTHING in .22. Wilson uses Ciener kits, marked to say Wilson. (Ditto for Kimber and a few others.) This was the case in the past; perhaps they've changed.

Wilson used to market a commander 22 conversion unit..it looks very much like the ceiner and and most likely built by Ceiner..

I have a unit that is marked by Wilson with adj. sights..works very well..

the $199 is very good price especially when you add in the two extra mags..but like you say..not a too good of deal if it doesn;t fit..

Are the Ciener 1911 kits any good?

I'd like to get one for my Sistema, but have heard a lot of complaints about Ciener.

Definitel sounds like a good price. Also, if you feel like spending the $, go to marvelprod.com. The test targets that come w/them show a sub 1" grouping at 50 yds. It also has a unique slide action where only the bottom half of the slide moves. This decreases the amount of energy needed to make the slide blow back, which allows a lighter recoil spring, and vastly increased reliability. The slide doesn't stay locked back on the last shot (although it does have a slide stop). This was done to increase the longevity of the conversion unit (according to the manufacturer). Finally, you can shoot normal .22LR. No high velocity needed to get reliability. I shoot crappy Blazer ammo out of mine (dirt cheap) and feel the extra $ for the conversion unit was worth it.

Yup & Nope

Wilson did offer a Commander size slide conversion for the 1911 frame. It will work on both the 1911 & commander sized guns. I've shot mine with both a full size 1911 in 10mm (Delta Elite) and a .45 Commander sized frame (Kimber Compact.) It's mine that is for sale. I have updated the dicription to assure that it will work with both full & Commander/compact frames. Look at :

Didn't realize that the seller was a poster on TFL - I wrote to you yesterday making the same inquiry :) Thanks for the answer, BTW.
