209 primer question

Can anyone tell me the advantage to 209 primers over the number 11 caps?

Don't know of any real advantage other than the fact that the 209 being a standard shot gun primer is more readily available and due to phisical design is easier to handle.

#11 caps have a very small charge in them. Sometimes you will get dry fire with them. Especially if it's damp.

209 shotshell primers give a much larger ingition charge which means a more reliable powder burn and quicker burn. (less *pop*.....Boom! and more *pop**Boom*)
