2011: More than 15 million background checks as gun sales break records

The FBI has performed more than 15 million background checks for weapons purchases so far this year. Gun sales are breaking new record highs as people fear civil disorder and higher crime due to the economic crisis, as well as lingering fears of an Obama clampdown on gun ownership.

Now you know why ammo prices keep rising even though supply seems to have just about caught up with demand. Ammo manufacturers know that waves of new gun owners will pay the higher prices.

It also explains why gun prices have remained high in both gun stores and gun shows.

Guess it would be too much to expect something like, oh you know, they pay for your gun if you're the 5 millionth, or 10 millionth, or 15 millionth customer.

I realize it's OUR money they would be using but maybe a certificate anyway...

Maybe it's because a lot of folks are worried about a peculiar anomaly in the Mayan calendar:D

If these guys are true though, I don't see how firearms are gonna help you if a Rhode Island sized chunk of rock and ice hurtles towards Earth from the Kuiper Belt, and according to astronomers, we are long due for another big one.
