I was enjoying my favorite adult beverage while watching the debate and I was struck by the number of Presidential hopefulls that I did not know. I am not talking about not knowing their politics, I am talking about never having heard their name!
It did not take long for the gears to start turning(lubricated by above mentioned beverage) and I decided that the reason I never heard of most of them was due to lack of media attention.
So to what extent are Presidential canidates media constructs? Given a particular media outlets bias, is there a possiblitly that they give less(or no)face-time to canidates that they would not like to see win? I was lazy for the first two Presidential elections that I was eligable to vote in and did not realy start investigating canidates until just before the Republican nomination(2000). Did I miss a potential gem?
