20 gauge Ruger Red Label

Blue receiver, definitely not stainless and I'm fairly certain it's not alloy. It's a 20 gauge w/ 3" chambers, Full over Modified fixed chokes. The one I found is tight, smooth and fairly clean. Best, it fits me and seems to point well. It seems to have been well cared for. What is the general consensus on these shotguns? Price?

Good gun. Certainly will outlast you. The one you have found is early, before the stainless. There were not a lot made in blued steel, but collector value is not a factor yet. When the stainless was introduced was about the time that interchangeble chokes became standard. The one you have found is NOT alloy. In 98% it should sell for $750-800 or a tad higher. In 90% condition it should be about $600. $500 for a rag. My 12 Red Label has over 20K through it and is just as good as the day I bought it.

Browning and Beretta guys hate them, with no logical reason that I am aware of. The Red Label fit me best or I would have gone Beretta. I am not sorry for my decision in the least, I have a darn nice shotgun that works for me.

Thanks for the info. Although I'm not a big O/U guy, this seemed like a nice SG to pick up since I would like at last one O/U. My only other SG is an 870 Wingmaster that's rock solid. The price they're asking is in the ballpark you mentioned and the shop has already set it aside. Can't justify buying new, let alone getting one of the high-end O/U's. It's not like I hob-nob on the sporting clays circuit

For some reason, the 20 Ga O/Us work better for me. I like the balance on almost all of the ones I've tried. I ended up with an SKB due to the fit.

If you like it, grab it. The price will not go down. :)
