20 gauge buckshot

First off, check with your local regulations. It may be called buckshot, but in many places you're not allowed to use it for deer hunting.

I did a quick check, and the biggest I could find for a 3" 20-gauge was #2 buck, probably good for 30, maybe 40yds. I think you'd be better off with rifled slugs, certainly good for 50yds, maybe more.

Happy hunting!

1+ on the slug. forget the buckshot for the 20. it will work, but the slug is better. I have an old rem. 1100 that I killed a deer with up in the hill country of Tx. Due to houses, the owner didn't want us to use a rifle, but was cool w/ shotguns. So I did. Just shoot it on paper, and learn where your point of aim needs to be. The point of impact for my gun is about 6" under point of aim. So I just adjust. Worked like a charm. A good double lunger and It'll go down.
