I've been looking at 1911's and have sort of narrowed my selection to either Kimber or Springfield. I just read something on another thread about the Springfield having a two piece barrel. Just what exactly is that and what are the pros and cons for it?
Are there any specific gunsmithing jobs that could or should be done to a production gun to improve accuracy or shootability? I know the Springfield and Kimber come with a match trigger, but are they actually of match quality (ie..light, crisp, creep, overtravel) or do they still need some "polishing"?
