2 months to renew a CCW license?!

I'm ranting here about the incompetent morons at the my State Bureau of Investigations. My 4-yr CCW license was set to expire on May 14, 2000. I submitted my renewal application with the $80 fee and photos on May 11, thinking hey, that gives 'em three days. Well here it is June 27, over 1 1/2 months later, and still haven't received the renewal CARD (though it is my belief my LICENSE was renewed the day I paid). This is from someone who has absolutely no new info on the application, other than change of address, no criminal stuff, no domestic stuff. I've had NICS checks completed in 5 minutes - why in the hell would it take more than 1 or 2 days to mail out the renewal, other than bureaucratic incompetence?

Futo,

If you like the way that government employees handle these types of issues now, just wait until “contractors” are the ones accomplishing these type of actions. They will have no responsibility, knowledge, or consideration as to what is going on. Low bidder wins the contract.

It can be a pain to stay legal. By rights, you should have received a renewal notice and form well in advance. Mine expires between christmas and new years so I renew 90 days in advance.

Oddly, if you lose a license you can get it replaced in 10 days (with same exp. date). I've had pretty good luck dealing with OSBI. Hope you get yours back soon.

My Florida renewal took exactly two weeks from the day I mailed my renewal and money order, to the day I received the new license. Mark / FL

My students in Arizona average 10 days to 2 weeks to get their renewed permit back. Same for new permits (first time).

Interesting that any State would 'delay' an automatic source of revenue.
How many CCW holders are really going to let their permit lapse?
Stupidity is everywhere...

...defend the 2nd., it protects us all.
No fate but what we make...

Mark:
When did you renew? Mine expired in Mar and I mailed my renewal in Jan and still only got 2 weeks before it expired.

Unfortunately, they get the revenue BEFORE the issue the license, and they get it even if they DENY the license (it's an "application fee"). They're not stupid. I'm in OK, and nevermind the total unconstitutionality of licensing a right - why on earth it takes more than one day to get it out is beyond me.

Just found out today that OSBI is telling people to shove off - we have 90 days to issue the renewal, and you can't carry until then. What a bunch of arrogant, right-depriving asses! Seems they're making everyone wait nearly the full 90 days just for spits and giggles apparently. I'm really thinking of moving to Idaho now!! I'm pissed that this supposedly conservative state would do such a thing; nevermind that it cost more than $85.00 per 4 years to license a right! Plus training class fees, photo fees, fingerprints, etc.
