1st shots - Sig P250

I was finally able to get out and fire the 1st shots from my new Sig P250, 9mm, full-size. Went to an indoor range - and shot at 3, 7, 15 yards. I haven't had an opportunity to shoot a pistol in about 1.5 years, but was fairly happy with the results.

I really liked the P250! GOOD trigger pull - of course, it is a long pull - but, having 30+ years of experience shooting, I barely noticed that. Trigger control is EVERYTHING with the P250! The main thing that I noticed was how much my eye sight has been effected by getting older (age:55)! I need to get new glasses! I was shooting groups at 3 yards that I used to shoot at 25 yards! Sigh...

I included, in the attached photos, my sights - yes, I hand-painted them! For hand-painting, I'm fairly happy with them. It looks a bit rough - definitely not "machine-painted" quality! But - they really helped with my shooting!

(FYI - the "splatter" targets are a 7" circle, with the red circle a 2" circle. The large target is a "standard" sized target with the #7 ring being 8"x12")

(Also, the small targets were shooting left-handed, and then right-handed - 5 shots each. The larger target, at the bottom - 5th round - was shot the same way. The larger target, at the top - 6th round - was shot all left-handed. I was trained to shoot right-handed; then, later, I found that I am "left-eye dominant", so I switched to shooting left handed. I am inherently a better shot left handed.)

I have one in 45, and I really like it.
I am mostly a DA Revolver guy, so the smooth pull on the 250 feels great to me. It's very accurate and I have not had a single jam with it in over 1500 rounds of my handloads.

I've been carrying a 250SC for several years and wouldn't trade it! Trigger
is good and accuracy is good. I put 50 rounds a month through it plus carry ammo....never had a burp.

That'll get er done, David! :)

I rented a P250 full size 45 a few weeks ago. I wanted to like it better than I did but the trigger on this one at least was longer and heavier than my GP100 357 and kicked a lot harder to boot. No thanks. I wonder if I'd like it better in 9mm.

The P250 is a real sleeper – I managed to get an SC upper in .380 before they were discontinued. To me – the DAO system is much safer for HD than the Glock system ...

I have carried a Compact in 9mm for over a year, really enjoy it. I also have a SC in .380, that is nice too. I carried a Glock 19 for a lot of years, but shoot the Sig better.
