What the heck is up with Starline?! I've had 38 spl and 32 H&R brass on back order now for 3 months at Midway. Going directly to Starline's site shows all the same availability dates. I'm about to jump ship to another brand if it get's extended 1 more time. Are the other companies showing the same shortages?

I think the ammo, primers and brass has been scarce for some time I tried about a year ago to get cases and took me three months to find .44Mag. When the price of ammo went sky high a whole bunch of people took up reloading and created another shortage of reloading component's. I thought the shotage was about over but on something maybe not:confused:

If you don't mind used brass for .38, it is pretty easy to collect at the range. Just ask anyone you see shooting a revolver if they would either just leave the spent cases in pile or dump them in an empty box. Most people will
gladly do it for you (unless they reload too). Also, keep your eyes on open and just police the ground near the shooting lanes.

Companies like Starline make the brass in a production run, typically based on previous sales/demand. Since the election in 2008, things haven't been "normal" in the gun arena. Many times a company runs what they perceive to be a year's worth at one time - if demand skyrockets, they're caught short. Constantly changing tooling for manufacturing costs time and money.

Eventually, when all the folks who waited till the last second, and the panic hoarders are done, supply/demand curves will equal out and availability will return to some sense or normalcy

I placed an order for 500 .41 Mag back in Aug or so. They said Sept. Then they said Oct. Then they said November...and then December.

I found some locally in Dec and cancelled the order. I understand that .41 Mag is not a high-demand caliber, so I cut them some slack.

But I would have thought that .38 Spl would be a bit easier to get. I just gave away about 800 rounds of it last July. :(

I just got a mint 4" .41 magnum S&W 58 no dash for $530 OTD, so I ordered 1,000 .41 mag Starline brass cases and 500 LSWC bullets yesterday. I was informed today the order would be on my porch tomorrow.

You just have to know who to order from. :D

I always bring used Walmart bags for that. Although I don't reload, I can trade them in for reloads.

I see handgun brass all the time here & other board classified, much better prices than new. Time for you to lay up a supply.
