I,ve owned several revolvers for the past 20 + yrs, but just purchased my first auto-loader, a Taurus PT-92 Stainless. Great gun so far.

Does anyone have any suggestions on proper cleaning methods & preferences for gun oils ? Special oil for slide , etc. ??

thanks

My Taurus was a pt940. Nice gun, stainless and all that.
I cleaned my gun after I shot it every time....some people dont.
Clean the top end..slide, barrel and mating surfaces on the frame when ever you think it needs it. I use Break Free clp...it cleans and is a lube. Alot of people use what ever they like...This is what works for me. Just spray enough to clean the parts you want clean..doesnt take much. Before assembly I spray a little
on the slide rails..assemble the gun and wipe it down again. Done. A killer trick product that works better than ANYTHING
for the barrel and feed ramp is a Bore Snake...get the rifle style
for your caliber..its a longer version so you get more cleaning for the same money. It takes about 5 seconds to get your barrel cleaner than an hour of scrubbing, even if you shoot lead. Hope this helps. Shoot well

I would be careful about oiling too much if you live (or shoot) in a dusty area. The oil is like a dust magnet.

I also like to dip a toothbrush in Hoppe's in scrub around the trigger area, extractor, and interior of slide. Then spray some RemOil in those areas till it runs out clean. You may not have to do this every time you shoot, but you'd be surprised how much powder can build up in about 500 rds.

Good luck.

Breakfree CLP, toothbrush-not the one you are currently using,
toothpicks and some good swabs along with patches. Take your time and remember to shake the Breakfree bottle before use. It's a great all-around product. Most of all have fun and enjoy.

Another vote for the Bore Snake as a must-have.

I *thought* I'd cleaned my Kimber...then my .45-caliber Bore Snake arrived. Two drags through and I was amazed.

It's pretty much all I use on my .22.
