1976 S&W Identification Help

Having a little trouble identifying an old S&W revolver. It's a K frame, 38 special, three screw, pinned barrel, with a serial showing manufacture date of 1976. The confusion comes in where it is stamped as a MOD. 2 (see pics). As I'm sure many of you already know, when I looked up a model 2, it was no where near the 1976 revolver I have. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Model 67.

Alex Trebek says, Oh no, I'm sorry player thats incorrect

Notice that the gun, while being a K-38 combat masterpiece, is actually nickel finish, not SS. The model 67 was SS, while the model 15, its cousin, was blued or nickel. The gun is a model 15, and perhaps the "2" is whats left over from an erroneous "15-2" stamp?

Remove the grips and see if there is a "N" stamp on the left grip frame. Also check the rear face of the cylinder for a "N" stamp. The gun looks factory nickel to my eye, so it should have N stamps in those places.
