1954 Franchi AL-48 12ga.

Hey everyone,
I'm new here and I've been trying to find information about a Franchi AL-48 12ga. from 1954 that I just recently had purchased. I don' know much about guns with recioling barrels. I was wondering if anyone knew how to take the reciever apart, and also if anyone knew where I could get a manual or parts for this gun. Also does anyone know why I have a barrel that wont shoot high brass (without a choke) yet the barrel with the choke will shoot?

I have one of these old fowling pieces. Love it. I don't know why you would want to daisammble it. I never have except to remove the barrel and action to spray it out with choke cleaner and when it dries, oil it on the contact points. Be sure to clean the magazine tube but don't oil it. As for the gun not chambering, I don't know at what point in your loading sequence that it fails. If it doesn't cycle properly, just turn the friction collar around backwards. Be sure that the friction collar is turned so that the bevel is not facing the brass friction ring.

When using high based loads just reverse the collar. Low base, the other way. Hope this helps.

To take the receiver out, punch out the two pins that hold it in and carefully pull it out. Spray it out with choke cleaner. Oil only the contact points. Be sparingly with the oil. Then carefully push it back in until the holes align and put the pins back in. It is rather simple. Note the position of the two flat metal parts that will fall out with the receiver and put them back into the same position. They can't go in backwards. After one time, you shouldn't have any trouble.
