I have a SA 2001 Loaded in 9mm. Great gun. I have never had a misfeed since I got it. I think the ramped barrel helps with that. I paid a little over $600 for mine, and considering all the features I think it is a great value. Very accurate out of the box. The only thing I dislike is the slide seems to be very lazy compared to my LBC in .45. Next time I shoot I am going to try using a 11 lb. spring instead of the 9 lb that came with it. Hopefully that will give the slide a little more snap when it cycles without causing functional problems. The best part about a 1911 in 9mm is you can buy factory ammo for $4.00 a box.
I've got a Colt series 70 Commander (steel frame) in 9mm. It is one nice gun. I wanted the Commander since I thought that the shorter and lighter slide would help make the gun seem less lazy with the 9mm cartridge. It does. It's also very accurate and a pussycat to shoot.
If you can find one try a Star BM in 9mm. I have one and it has never given me a problem. It isn't much bigger than a Walther PP and packs a lot more punch. Regards, Richard
Just got a Springfield Loaded in 9MM. It's a hoot. Ran approx. 300 rounds through it yesterday without a malfunction. One odd note my rear sight walked left in the middle of a string of 5 targets. I usually shoot a little left so this made things worse. My buddies insisted that if the sights had moved right that gun was definately a keeper.
BTW it's a beauty.
I also bought a Springfield 2001 Loaded in 9mm. I really like this piece. It has been reliable with just one FTF with a bad reloaded case out of about 500 rounds so far.
I've been shooting it in IDPA matches. I can shoot it better than my HiPower for some reason.
I have a Star BM also and love it. I have been very impressed with the design and construction of their pistols. In fact, everytime I get rid of one it hurts so much I have to get another.

I understand there are three companies involved in the manufacture of the Hi Power. Good or bad? I don't think quality control is the same as Brownings.
