1911's - Anyone actually prefer...

1911's - Anyone actually prefer the arched mainspring housing and short trigger combination? I'm thinking of having my stock Kimber changed to this setup along with an Ed Brown beavertail safety to help aid my stubby digits in trigger control.

Thanks,

Yup, I went to the arched mainspring housing and short Videcki trigger on my Kimber. Then I added a bit of skateboard tape to the front strap.

I just got through installing a short trigger on my Kimber; I plan on function-testing it this weekend. It sure feels better to my girly-man hands than the standard one. I still think I prefer the flat MSH; I want my hand as far forward as it will go.

BTW, I posted in The Smithy recently that both Videki and Wilson Combat have discontinued their short triggers. I'm not sure where you plan to get yours, but a company called King's Gun Works was recommended; their price was on par with the Videki, and the quality appeared the same as the factory Kimber unit.

All hands are the same, but different. That's why they have different combinations.

Not for me, thanks. I'd like to get my hand inside the magazine well if I can for a good, tight grip (as Professor John Skaggs at Chapman Academy learnt me).

Depends on your hand. I have thick hands, but size medium. While they are great for a fist, I will never be Jeff Beck with a guitar. (Maybe I could stretch them out)?

I prefer the arched main spring housing but with the long trigger. My hands are of average size but with long fingers. This combination helps me acheive a more proper trigger engagement without having to resort to an awkward hold on the grip.

warmbore, I have 18 1911A1's total, and each and every one has the arched steel MSH and short military trigger. This just happens to be my favorite combination and I've used it for 30 years.

Yep, this is my favorite combination.

The arched mainspring make the gun 'point' right.

The short trigger lets my finger contact the trigger in the same spot where i engage the trigger on my revolvers. Just feels better.

Arched, USGI checkered MSH w/lanyard loop attached. Trigger length does not matter to me but they have to be fairly smooth, not deeply grooved.

Big hands & long fingers almost force the use of an arched
MSH & a long trigger.
Chuck does know of what he speaks, too!
