S swampgator New member May 4, 2000 #2 Standard .45? Or 9mm/.38 Super? Slide: To my knowledge a 45 can't be done due to a larger breech face. .38 Super or 9mm slide can be opened up to accept the larger case head. Barrel: Generally available from Brownells. Magazines Ejector: Possibly may need to be changed. Springs: Need to be changed to appropiate weight. If you have to have a 10 mm 1911 you may want to look into a Colt Delta. It could prove to be cheaper in the long run, if found used. George, have I forgotten anything? Gator

A Art Eatman Staff in Memoriam May 4, 2000 #3 Well, you need the complete top end: Slide, barrel, recoil springs, etc. And you need, probably, to change the ejector. I've not seen "loose" 10mm stuff at gun shows. You might be just as well off to buy a Delta Elite, complete...Dunno. FWIW, Art

H HS New member May 4, 2000 #5 If it's a .45, you could go to the .400 Corbon or .45 Super & still use the same slide but with a different barrel/spring setup. ------------------ "The Gun from Down Under !" http://www.para1911fanclub.w3.to/ E-mail hotshot_2000@hotmail.com ICQ # 68806935

G George Stringer Staff Alumnus May 5, 2000 #6 CastleBravo, the consensus seems to be (and accurately so) that you need a new top end. That's the way I'd do it anyway. Then you have 2 handguns in 1. George
