1911 two piece slide question.

Years ago, 20-25 years or so, I remember a M1911 either custom or factory that had a two piece slide. There was no traditional barrel bushing, and the last inch or so of the muzzle end was cut off in a saw tooth style and the two pieces interlocked together, somehow. Anyone that has information on this pistol, and value would be greatly appreciated. Factory? Custom? Accuracy? Reliability? Thank you.

Maybe a race gun? A lot of competition 1911s are built with muzzle brakes that are attached to the barrel and profiled just like the slide. So they look like a long slide 1911, but the slide is in 2 pieces. Does that sound like what you were thinking?

I think I remember seeing it in American Handgunner magazine, but don't remember who made it.
I'll post an inquiry at 1911forum, and see what turns up.

I finally found it. The Pistolsmith was Travis Strahan. The design was called "Acculock". If you Google his name, there is a bit of info out there, but not much.
