1911 Twist Rate, please...

I'm trying to come up with the perfect load for my 'new' Norinco 1911A1. My preferred bullet weight is usually 230gr, but I'm having a heck of a time finding the right load for this thing....

With my ol' crappy Firestorm Compact (ya - I know, my pistol preferences are a bit on the cheap side...;) ), I was getting hellacious accuracy with a comparably higher-power round. Now, with this Norinco 1911, I'm find that a much (read: VERY much) lighter-powered load is getting the Norinco to show it's accuracy, so my first guess is that I'm working with a faster twist rate.

With all my blathering out of the way, here's the question -

What's the twist rate of a typical, stock 1911?

Seems like I read somewhere it is something like 1:16 left.

Please some of you more knowledgable and experienced guys
help out here if this isn't correct.

I was at Springfield's site last night (looking for a .38 Super, but I digress) and they list the twist rate on theri mil-spec pistols as 1 - 16 LH for the .45's.
