1911 Trigger Rattle

Hey. I've a S&W Gunsite Ed. 1911. Absolutely terrific shooter but the trigger rattles to no end. It has front to rear and side to side movement. Its about as annoying as the wife's 1 billion+ windchimes on a breezy day! Sounds like a rattlesnake every time I unholster. Its not a gun, its a baby's rattle.

I happened to see a Gunsite copy in a shop and asked to hold it and that also had the same problem. Please, can anyone give me any suggestions on how to get rid of the rattle?

I bought a Greider short aluminum trigger from Brownells...Dropped right in to my Smith 1911PD. Eliminated all slop..Very satisfied...

I agree w/ the advice to get a new trigger. A property fit trigger is one of those subtle things that really improves the feel of a 1911.

My advice is to get one from Brownell's that's a little oversized. A true drop-in trigger is going to be small, and you'd still have rattling.

You are not dealing with a Colt spec gun so you are gonna be hit or miss whether whatever you get for replacement fixes anything. Fitting some oversized trigger might be best in that situation, unless you got a gunsmith with a variety of triggers in his parts supply that can try more than one.
