1911 spur hammer,need new grip safety?

Changed the hammer in my rock island for the spur type,simple...right?So now the slide binds on the hammer because the hammer is binding on the safety.I like the new hammer and don't want the old one back.If I get a new grip will that fix the problem,if so what kind?
 
The older spur type hammer really needs the original shaop spour on the grip safety for clearance.
If hte hammer is hitting the grip safety you need to change one or the other to a pair that works together.
The commander hammer is designed for the smoother spoon typer grip safety, and many have a relief cut even for the commander hammer.
You can also try bobbing the spur hammer enough to clear.
