1911 shooting technique

The NRA offers a fine beginner's book in basic pistol, but nothing specifically for the 1911. I would suggest you look into finding videos since you may find better information that you can see in a good gun demonstration rather than read about in a book with still pictures.

I ordered a book called "Shooting From Within" from Brownells and found it quite interesting. It gives guidelines on all aspects of shooting from beginner up. Was amazed to find a section on "Indirect Sighting" which is where the shooter keeps both eyes wide open and fixed on the target and aligns the gunsights by seeing them directly but in his "non-focused" vision. I have been doing this for years and shoot better that way. People always told me it was wrong.... what a surprise to find out indirect sighting is actually a refinement of the standard sighting 99% of people use (front sight focus) because we were taught FSF is the only way. Interesting book.:p

Two very good books..

One by Brian Enos "Practical Shooting, Beyond Fundamentals..

other by Michael J. Plaxco..sorry can't remember the name..
